Afternoon!

..the moment of the day when nothing happens in some lonesome corners of the earth. The sun’s been sending its highest temperature and everyone refrain inside from it, leaving behind the stray outside to wander and some curious non sleepy heads as observers.

Been many afternoon when I had spent a lot many childhood days in getting to know what really to do in this most slow hour of the day- except dreaming to glory.

Still remember during those times when back from school and electricity goes off and everyone gets their doze of noon nap; slowly slipping out and onto the roof or the veranda outside, sitting on the shadow of the wall looking at the sky with half opened eyes, looking at the clouds passing by- figuring out some hidden message or the hints of darkness amongst the white fluffy clouds to quench the imaginative arrival of rains.

Wishing each cloud to come down so as I might just touch it for a second and feel how soft it is- and the intense wishing to travel in the air soon.
(and that wish did came true last year- when we flew- and I really felt amazed to see the clouds so near, but couldn’t touch- imagined myself running all over the sky, the sun rays poking into the eyes and bit chilled too as the plane ascended high..)
Back to the afternoons....

...spotting a few crows passing by in search of food, the chirping sparrows playing in the bowl of water kept for them- curiously observing there eating ways to find some particular pattern- and some angry birdies use to chirp out loud to scare the timid ones and encroach the bowl all as their own. No doubt the tiny grains always use to be way more than they can eat or carry home- still some have that insecurity and selfish tendencies. And looking with pity at the ones who got scared and flew away to sit on the web of wires in between the poles- but just moments later they arrive back, sort the differences and let each other share the bowl- probably remembering that the day for them is about to end soon.

The house is changed now, just a few kilometers away and there’s no hint of any sparrows around- or maybe I don’t observe so keenly now; just the black crows claiming the park as their own territory- crowing all noon, stealing the dogs food.

The new born four puppies (they were five though, one died) who are becoming naughty each day and bit more pampered by me. Running around the park playing with the cute creatures- and that too FOUR of them all around me, what a bliss! Nothing can be so loving then the puppies- that too stray, even when they know their friend doesn’t come every time to play with them. And the good thing their Mommy Dog too doesn’t feel scared of me as I pamper the tiny cutenesses!!!

Love to observe them doing all sort of playful things in their big abode- the park. Digging the burrows like rabbits; finding a rag and snatching them all; trying to eat up each other; standing on the tiny pavements to look around; sleeping over each other to be saved from chilly winds; recognizing me with the bowl and running out of their hiding places to have the dinner; licking the food bowl or throwing away all on the floor then licking it before its soaked into the earth and at times the smart one taking away the bowl in the corner to lick it all; running behind anyone who shows and showers love on them; following their Mommy Dog when hungry; and from far when I look into the park they often appear as cats- cute puppy cats!!

Lately as they are growing up- there’s coming something what might be attitude in humans- becoming
choosy about food and less playful with me.
two blackies and one BnW, the fourth Whitey was hidden somewhere behind the bushes!!

Wish they remain tiny cutnesses forever...and the lone afternoons filled with fun!
