5 Months Later...(+cont...1)
8th August 2012 when the plane landed in Calgary after a tiresome and exciting flight across the globe I stepped down with many new thoughts sprouting into the mind.
Welcomed by smiling faces and a surprise too, Jerry.
As the plane was hovering over the city of Calgary the clarity was astonishing that fields that were divided in perfect geometrical shapes, smoothly running traffic, flyovers like drawings with pencil, tiny houses from above and lots of greenery- atmosphere so clean as I have never seen before- crystal clear skies and clouds passing...
Landed at around 3 pm, Hail warning from across 10km, and waiting for the airplane to open and let me out and breath in the crystal clear air of Canada.
Immigration check, baggage collection and around 5pm I was out in the air, happy to see the smiling faces waiting for me since a long time.
Big suitcases into the car and off on the trip to the new home from now on.
It was still night in India.
Transcending through the highways, entering in the community- enchanted by the bright colored flowers grown beautifully on the division of road. We were uphill, thousands kilometers away from India- the houses with slant roof, glass windows, hollow walls.
Entered into the home, not on the 15th floor of any skyscraper, still could see the city as was seen from the sky just an hour back. A little cozy space uphill overlooking northeast part of Calgary, just in front can see the airplanes landing and trying to remember the tower my plane was standing by- i was just there a few moments back.
More planes flying over.
Pine and some wild berry trees overlooking the balcony, a trail for the pedestrians, cute white children playing- it was the fun vacations of summers going.
Awestruck, trying to absorb so much new at once into the mind.
Bathed, and off to a little exploration ride to the nearby shoppers drug mart.
I was asked to guess the time- a mindless answer, 3 or 4 pm..as per the brightness of the sun in the sky. It was 7 in the evening!! Really!
By around 9 it felt like evening and the sun went to sleep like humans at 10pm. Long lasting days in summers due to close proximity with the north pole....but the weather felt like early November in India.
Back home and had the dinner.
Late night looking at the city lights as if Diwali lightening far across.
The time difference, jet lag and sleep gone bewildered.
The sleepy days and sleepless nights went into arranging and unpacking, looking at the sky and being lost into the silence and solitude of this new-found-land.
After a week, a week long visit to Edmonton. Then back to attend an introductory 4 day session at the place i will be studying. To be acquainted with the tiniest of thing that's different here from home.
Rising early in the morning with the orange sky spread around- rejoicing each day to be able to see far and clear.
Days passed and i got rid of jetlag, Canadian Mountain Time embraced me....

A new world unfolds each day,
meeting someone new, missing someone old...
Learnt to travel in the transit system, with paper ticket and a different adventure it felt. It sounded like the railways when the train moved on tracks transcending the city...and feels like metro inside- they announce similar- but skipping which way the doors gonna open..haha..station with platform in between, unlike the Delhi metro, with train track in between and if you get on the wrong side it takes a long pathway to cross to reach the other side..
but comparably, Metro is cool..as it's modern built..!!!
..People a lot courteous, holding the door for the person behind, i never had seen that in India, people skip basic humane values, here they keep them kindled.. i use to feel strange, that why the person did hold the door for me....
The strange connection with yellow lights, in every home i see, was the same yellow brightness illuminated...back in home we had long back stopped using the bulbs emitting yellow lights, these felt annoying as i loved the white tube lights...
and i was being told that it gives a warm feel...and indeed, now in winters, it feels good to be under the yellow light-- warmifying! , still annoying upto an extent, hence a few white lights around in here now!!
In between a little fun day at Global Festival of fireworks one day, meeting a few more fellow Indians..the night when it felt like Diwali..music with fireworks...Awesome show that was!
As the September started, there came a long weekend, strange to hear this new word- what's with long weekend...its a holiday in continuation with the weekend and hence the cool name for paln for incrementing the fun, so as we, went to a lil'trip to Banff...a beautiful national park just 2hours drive away..
The western Canada is famous for natural beauty and truly it is, beautiful snow covered mountains...clear skies and greener surroundings of the season...a lot of Bollywood movies being shot here as being told...and recognized later, in the song from the movie- koi mil gaya- with preity and hrithik in boat, was shot at Bow Falls, in Banff National Park, where we had been to...in the long weekend! :D
Then had been introduced to the main purpose of being here...the TIM course orientation day, meeting the instructors and fellow classmates...
Starting with coffee and donuts and lots of fun talks, introductions and instructions....
As the programs states being fasttrack, the whole day went in studying, in 2 weeks a book finished, and exam too..with lots of practicals and quizzes...interesting works...there came the day of exam falling on my birthday...
No one did knew it was my special day. Writing the exam, and while outside for a lil'break chitchatting from nowhere someone started asking about everyones age, and when it came to me, i sadi- "23, Today.."...and everyone wished...a little noisy conversation that the instructor had to come check out...and all calmed down for the next activity...performing the practical...the basic computer making process..putting in the hard-disk, wiring, checking the hardware working, installing the OS...as the time progressed, things started getting out of shape, while a few even completed and left for the day i was still on the first step of making the hard-drive detect by the BIOS...it was a special day and i was all being ruined in thoughts by the fear of getting a low mark...finally asked the instructor to help...after being in tears and silent sobs and many failed attempts of telling happy things to my mind...it was fine for the next things to be done...and with high spirits i did well in practical....but it got so late and had to get the bus back home, reaching at 7o'clock..
Finding my favorite gerberas on the table and a fun greeting card...
Next, off to the party..
It was Ganesh Chaturthi that day, and after a sad day, God has His way of cheering me up, throwing a party at His home...with yummy food and meeting some wonderful Indian people..!
Happy by the end of the day, back home with banana split ice cream from Dairy Queen, and cut that like a cake...slept to peace for another exciting day ahead..
Each morning i use to wake up feeling excited to be at SAIT, elevators and escalators, amazing library..and something in the air that makes you feel worth..! :)
